Mardi Gras in New Orleans

Mardi Gras is a time for parties, parades, balls and celebrations. Parades begin February 11th and end on Fat Tuesday. The first day of Lent, also referred to as Ash Wednesday, is when Christians traditionally sacrifice in imitation and remembrance of Jesus’ 40-day fast in the desert.

Commemoration of the Battle of New Orleans
January 8, 2017
Visitors can enjoy military drills, cannon and musket firing, crafts and cooking demonstrations. Park staff and volunteers in period clothing will represent American and British Soldiers and civilians while explaining their roles in battle.

Rock ‘n’ Roll Marathon

The Rock ‘n’ Roll Marathon is an international event featuring participants from 50 states and 23 countries. The course includes views of the mansion along St. Charles Avenue, the historic architecture of the French Quarter, the elegant homes on Esplanade Avenue and the scenic Lake Pontchartrain shoreline.
