Visitors can withdraw U.S. dollars from their U.S. bank accounts in Panama’s ATMs. There is a daily withdrawal limit of $500, and bank charges may apply.
Panama has bus transportation services called MetroBus. This is part of the planned Metro system that integrates public ground transportation in Panama City. To use the service, you will need to buy a Metrocard and deposit credit on it. A complete list of routes served by the MetroBus is available in Spanish here. There are also hop-on-hop-off sightseeing bus services available. With the same Metrocard, you can use the metro train services on schedule from Monday to Friday from 5:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m.; Saturday from 5:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m.; and Sunday and holidays from 7:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m.
Most major car rental companies are present in Panama. Some deliver cars to the Country Inn & Suites, Panama Canal hotel upon request. As a visitor, you may drive with an international license for up to 90 days during your visit. Use of GPS-assisted mapping is recommended for driving.
It is recommended to wear tropical clothing when visiting Panama City, as the average temperature is 31ºC (88ºF ). There are sporadic rains, so a small, foldable umbrella is also recommended.

There are two types of taxi services in Panama: Regular taxis and Special Tourism Taxis (SET). Regular taxis are painted yellow and have established fares per route. They can pick up at most busy streets or be reached by phone 24 hours a day by calling one of several Taxi Centers (“Piqueras” in Spanish). SET Taxis are white taxi vehicles whose drivers are better trained to serve tourists; most of them speak English. They are generally more expensive than regular taxis since they offer these additional conveniences.
