Stay near the Excitement of the Panama Jazz Festival
If you’re a music lover, you won’t want to miss the Panama Jazz Festival, held each year between the second and third weeks of January. This world-class music event draws 20,000 people to the City of Knowledge (Ciudad del Saber), the center of academics and technology in Panama City, which is a short distance from the Country Inn & Suites.
The Panama Jazz Festival was started in 2003 by Danilo Perez, a Grammy-winning pianist and native of Panama. His vision was to better people’s lives through the sharing of music, and today the festival includes performances by jazz musicians including Randy Weston, David Murray, Terri Lyne Carrington, Danny Rivera and many more. Top musical institutions such as the New England Conservatory, Berklee College of Music and the Conservatory of Music of Puerto Rico present master classes for musicians and often hold scholarship auditions as well.
