So here we are coming back from sunny St. Barths, Anguilla and St. Maarten where my boyfriend and I had the best vacation everrrr!!! Did I say ever? Yep. We have a connecting flight via Charlotte to New York. Two thumbs up so far so good. We landed in Charlotte, NC and all heck broke loose. No flights to the Northeast because of severe weather conditions. We must have called a dozen hotels and we kept hearing sorry no availability. My boyfriend then went on and found "Country Inn & Suites" off University in Charlotte (mind you this is after about an hour of trying to find available hotels). I had never heard of this chain of hotels prior so rest assure I was reluctant to book it but my boyfriend said how bad can it be and the prices are quite reasonable. I must say when we got to the hotel we were pleasantly surprised. They heard of our ordeal and the Manager Basin accommodated us with a Suite which is not what we booked with Priceline (we booked a standard room). The front desk agent Erika was oh so super accommodating and they assisted us left, right and center. Deandre one of the shuttle drivers can give you the entire history on Charlotte as well as recommend the best hotels. He will drive you anywhere you need to go in a reasonable radius from the hotel. We end up spending about 3 days at the hotel because we could not get any flights out, but we did not miss home. With their warm complimentary breakfast and those gosh darn chocolate chip cookies we totally forgot that we needed to make it to New York City. Not all the hotels in that area provides shuttle service to the local restaurants and shopping malls so that is a big plus for this hotel. I cannot thank the manager, Erika and Deandre enough for the warm southern hospitality they showed us. On my next layover or stay in Charlotte I will definitely be staying at "Country Inn & Suites" off University Blvd because now I know that I am in good hands and I will be well taken care of. J.
