Find Cultural Things to Do in the Historic City of Jammu

Religious Sites:

  • Raghunath Temple (4.7 km)
    Dating back to 1835, this impressive building composed of seven separate temples is the largest shrine in northern India. A library on the premises houses rare Sanskrit works.
  • Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine (60 km)
    Millions of visitors come from all over the world to make a pilgrimage to the Holy Cave, located on the side of Trikuta mountain in Katra. The journey covers 12 kilometres and traces the steps taken by Mata Vaishnavi more than 700 years ago.

Historic Sites:

  • Bahu Fort (2.8 km)
    The oldest fort in Jammu, this popular pilgrimage destination was renovated by the Dogra dynasty in the 19th century. After paying your respects at the indoor Hindu temple, you can enjoy a leisurely stroll through the royal terrace garden, where locals flock to enjoy picnics surrounded by flowers and fountains.
  • Mubarak Mandi Heritage Complex (4 km)
    Once home of the Dogra emperor, this complex now boasts several palaces, courtyards and government buildings. The outside wows visitors with a blend of Rajasthani, European and Mughal architecture. A notable stop is the Dogra Art Museum, which houses important artefacts, including Emperor Shah Jahan's golden bow and arrow.
  • Amar Mahal Museum & Library (5.7 km)
    History buffs won’t want to miss this historic palace turned library and museum, home to impressive artefacts such as a 120-kilogram golden throne, miniature portraits and a collection of more than 25,000 books. The building was designed by a French architect in the classic French chateau style.


  • Bahu Plaza (across the street)
    From restaurants and shops to business and government offices, this expansive centre boasts dozens of intriguing venues just across the street from the hotel.
  • Bagh-e Bahu Aquarium (3.8 km)
    Designed in the shape of a fish, this popular aquarium features more than 400 species of sea creatures and is one of the largest underground aquariums in the country.
  • Mansar Lake (55.1 km)
    Pack a picnic and head to this nearby lake, where you can catch some sun on a boat, pay your respects at a surrounding temple or sit back and relax while taking in the scenic rolling hills.
  • Doda Trek (166 km)
    Arrange for an adventurous, 12-day hiking tour through lush forests and snowy mountains along the entirety of this trail, or opt for a shorter excursion led by a local guide.


  • University of Jammu (2.4 km)
    This local university offers undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral degrees in subjects including environmental science, hospitality and tourism management, and music and fine arts.
