We had a king room. They are suites so your bedroom is separate from your ' living room.' Really nice. (CRP94)

I came to your hotel in Hagerstown, MD on June 12th, for a 4-night stay. I let them know way in advance that I was going to be sleeping during the day because I would be working nights and did not want to be disturbed. When I checked into the hotel, there was a high loader making a continuous beeping noise. I asked the front desk, as I was checking in, if this was going to be a problem since I had informed the hotel from day one of my reservation that I would be sleeping during the day? She said she didn’t think so and that they were fixing something out front. On my first day of sleeping at around 10:30am the beeping began. I called the front desk to ask if this was going to be going on all day and was told she did not know and the owner was not there (whatever that meant) and either she could get back to me later or I could come down and discuss it at the front desk. My response was “What would me getting dressed and coming to the desk do differently than talking on the phone?”. Apparently, I found out later, that the manager Nick Banks was there and heard the conversation. He informed me of this later in the day, but why he didn’t pick up the phone and jump into the conversation is a mystery to me. The noise subsided at around 12:00pm allowing me to get around an hour’s rest before starting up again. I finally gave up trying to sleep around 1:30pm and went out to talk with the guys doing the work. When I talked with the workers, they said that they were going to be working Saturday and possibly Sunday, so this was not going to work out for me. I was told by the front desk that they weren’t sure if they were working the weekend, but how do they not know these things? I found another hotel without renovations going on, showered, dressed, packed up and went to the front desk to say this was NOT going to be conducive for me to stay. I was told by Nick Banks that because of the time I would have to pay for another night if I was going to leave. I explained to him that I had not even had a chance to sleep at the hotel one day, let alone 2 nights of payment, but he said that this did not matter because of the time. Since this noise thing had been brought up and discussed on more than one occasion, you would have thought that he would have forgone the second night stay just as a courtesy. Nick Banks was adamant that I had stayed too long and I would be charged for 2 nights. The whole vibe of the conversation made me feel like I was trying to pull some free stay scam and at that point just wanted my bill and to get out of there. He also did not let me know that he was the manager until I said that I did not want to argue the point and would contact the manager or Country Inn and Suites themselves. The only reason I’m contacting Country Inn and Suites personally is because I feel that this was wrong and talking to Nick Banks was going nowhere.
I do realize that renovations don’t close a hotel and that my working nights and sleeping days is a bit unusual, but I also feel that I should have been better informed by the staff as to whether I should have stayed during this time frame.

When you are told the room has a strong bad odor, Place is in another room, or ask if we would like to stay in the lobby while it is being corrected. Nothing was done to satisfy our complaint. It was very unpleasant.
