I had a rough day traveling from Pennsylvania on my trip back home to Florida. My car was rear-ended on I-95 near Manassas, VA and as a result I lost 3 hours of travel time and ended up having to stop for the night in Emporia rather than my planned destination of Lumberton, NC. I was still shaken from the accident and totally exhausted as I stopped to inquire if there were any rooms available at the Country Inn and Suites. The woman at the front desk informed me that there were only suites left for the night and when I was hesitant about spending the extra for a suite when I didn't really need a large room she suggested a few nearby hotels that had lower rates about a mile down the road. It was late and I was so tired that I really didn't want to go to another hotel and after finding that they had a reasonable rate for AARP members I decided to stay since I could tell that the hotel was clean and I have always had good experience staying at County Inn and Suites. I was unable to get the key card to open the door to my room so went back down to let the woman know. She gave me another set of key cards and I went back up to the room. The second set of cards did not work either and just as I was ready to go back down the elevator door opened and there was the desk clerk to make sure that the key cards were working. When I let her know they weren't, she tried her card and it wouldn't work either. She apologized for the inconvenience and went back down stairs. She was back in less than 5 minutes to let me know that she had upgraded me to a suite with a jacuzzi and again apologized for the inconvenience. The room was clean and nicely appointed. I appreciated that there was a small refrigerator to hold my water and some food I had with me. The bed was extremely comfortable and after the rough day I had, I really appreciated it. I was very glad to see that the breakfast started at 6 AM so I could eat and be on my way early. The breakfast had all the usual items you come to expect in addition to hot items that included scrambled eggs, french toast, and bacon, plus make your own waffles. Everything was delicious. I wish I had gotten the name of the woman at the front desk since she went above and beyond to my my stay a good one. I would stay here again if I'm in the area.

Stopped here on our way to Asheville NC and it was convenient and reasonable. The staff was very friendly and accommodating, and the room was clean and comfortable. The AC was broken and they immediately moved us to a suite across the hall. Good breakfast and staff very friendly. Very nice hotel.
