Oh how quickly things change, I cannot recommend anyone stay in this hotel unless you have a dog. We stayed in this hotel last fall and absolutely loved everything about it, it was new at the time so very clean, comfortable and the staff was very polite and accommodating so when we were returning to the area we decided to return. Sadly the hotel has changed significantly. Upon opening the door to our room we new it was not going to be a pleasant stay. The smell of the room almost knocked us over it was so horrible. We debated leaving the hotel, but were exhausted from a very long drive. We left to get some food and hoping when we returned after turning up the air it would circulate and help, but not at all. I went to the front desk and informed them, the staff was not part of the problem at all and offered another room, but decided to try to correct our room first. We sprayed the housekeeping's air freshener, cleaned out the ac vents ourselves but nothing helped. This is when we also realized the room was not as clean as it should have been, with previous guests make up case on the floor, the shower was dirty and the whole room just was very dissatisfying. On my way to the front desk to return the spray and ask for a new room we met another couple who had the same issue and took our spray to remedy their room, then in the hall we were met by another guest with the same problem. That is when we new a new room would not remedy the problem. It was a long night of us both feeling very sick, congested and waiting for morning to leave and spent thenext night in another hotel chain. The other guests mentioned the fact that dogs were allowed to stay in the hotel and they felt it was a dog smell and I can only assume this was our problem. While the staff was great, the hotel has lost its appeal completely and I can say I would be very had pressed to stay in another Country Inn. I am not one for leaving feedback, especially negative in any way as I am an easy to please guest, but this was beyond acceptable. While accommodating guests with dogs is a great concept it brings on many downsides like the smell and cleanliness of the rooms. If you are going to let the dogs accompany the guests extra cleaning and shampooing must be taken into consideration.
