About Williamsburg

Known as the birthplace of American democracy, Virginia's Historic Triangle is comprised of three cities: Williamsburg, Yorktown and Jamestown. For a vacation loaded with family fun, fine dining, fabulous shopping and world class golf, the Historic Triangle certainly does all it can to provide travelers with tons to see and do. Throughout this lovely region, modern amenities blend seamlessly with the area's rich, storied history. Be part of the story when you enter Colonial Williamsburg's Historic Area. This town-sized living history museum tells inspirational tales of our journey from colony to country. Inside Williamsburg's 18th-century shops, taverns and government buildings, the Founding Fathers helped establish the ideals of liberty, independence and personal freedom. Williamsburg is also home to the beautiful campus of William and Mary, the second-oldest institution of higher learning in the country. Nearby, at Historic Jamestowne, trace the steps of Captain John Smith and Pocahontas as you explore the site of the first permanent English settlement in America. At Yorktown, follow the Road to Revolution, an outdoor walkway to the main museum building, where an introductory gallery presents the Declaration of Independence. Once you've had your fill of the past, get acquainted with some of the region's more modern diversions. See for yourself why Busch Gardens, voted the "Most Beautiful Park" for the past 19 years, is a "must do" for family fun. Take in top-rated, adrenaline-pumping roller coasters like "The Griffon," the world's tallest and first floorless dive coaster. Sample delish international food and catch family-friendly entertainment at its best, all in a world-class setting. Relax on a lazy river, race down slides and soak up fun times at Water Country USA. The Mid-Atlantic's largest water park is THE place to escape the heat of summer. And once you've worked up a proper appetite, satisfy your cravings at any number of fine dining restaurants in Williamsburg and raise a toast to "a vacation to remember" at the Williamsburg Winery.
