Visitors can take in the full beauty of the season thanks to this unique tour, which leads through more than eight miles of colorful public and private gardens. Tyler's largest annual celebration, the Texas Rose Festival showcases one of East Texas's most surprising assets: the beauty of the Piney Woods. In particular, the region's affinity for roses -- thousands upon thousands of them, in fact -- have made the town the self-proclaimed "rose garden of the U.S." Tyler's Rose Festival, which kicks off in October, brings in more than 100,000 visitors from around the world and includes a variety of family-friendly events, like a pageant, the Queen's Tea, parades, tours of commercial gardens, and the Palette of Roses art show. Many events are held at or near the Rose Garden Center.
