Fourth Avenue is a hub of activity every day and most evenings, but it becomes even more bustling in March and December when the biannual Fourth Avenue Street Fair takes place. The numbers are incredible: 400 arts and crafts booths, 35 food vendors, four music stages, a plethora of street entertainers, myriad kid's activities, and numerous rides and attractions. All of these components attract 200,000-300,000 people over three days.

Tucson's birthday celebration commemorates the founding of El Presidio de San Agustín del Tucsón in 1775, while simultaneously paying tribute to the Native Americans who have resided in the area for thousands of years. The festivities commence with a special mass at St. Augustine Cathedral, after which a procession wends its way to Armory Park for an afternoon of mariachi music, folk dancing, art exhibits, guest speakers, and food.
