About Sycamore

Sycamore offers visitors the best of both worlds. Located in DeKalb County and considered part of Chicago's metro area, this quaint community - population approximately 12,100 - has plenty to offer. Visitors can enjoy fishing, hiking, and camping during the summer, and in the winter months Sycamore is ideal for ice fishing, cross-country skiing, and snowmobiling. Average temperatures top out at 73 degrees in the summer months and 21 degrees in the winter, with a snowfall of about 30 inches. The city, which happens to be the county seat, is also conveniently located to the 1500-acre Shabbona Lake State Park, which has a 32-acre. Another nearby recreational spot that attracts visitors is the Kishwaukee River.
