History Brown Mackie College - Salina was founded and approved by the Board of Trustees of Kansas Wesleyan College in Salina, Kansas on July 30, 1892. The trustees contracted with Professor T.W. Roach to organize the Commercial Department, which was then known as The Kansas Wesleyan School of Business. The College began operation on Sept. 12, 1892.
In 1938, the College was incorporated as The Brown Mackie School of Business under the ownership of Mr. Perry E. Brown and Mr. A.B. Mackie, former instructors at Kansas Wesleyan University in Salina, Kansas. By January 1975, with improvements in curricula and higher degree-granting status, The Brown Mackie School of Business became Brown Mackie College. In 2003, the College was acquired by Education Management Corporation.

Kansas Wesleyan University
Kansas Wesleyan University is a liberal arts institution located in Salina, Kansas. Founded in 1886, it maintains a covenant relationship with the United Methodist Church and is supported by the Kansas West Conference. The school’s accreditation was reaffirmed in 1997 by the Higher Learning Commission of the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools.
The University is divided academically into six divisions and eighteen departments. Courses are offered for twenty-five undergraduate majors and one graduate program, the MBA.
Salina is the sixth largest city in the state. It is at the hub of two major interstate highways and is serviced by regular airline transportation. The city is a major arts and cultural center for Kansas.

K-State at Salina is home to the College of Technology and Aviation. We offer associate and bachelors degrees in the fields of engineering technology, professional pilot, aviation maintenance, technology management and family studies and human services. The academic programs are designed to prepare people directly for the world of work and are very application oriented as well as laboratory-intensive. Students learn by doing. The college regularly places more than 95 percent of its graduates and each year several employers actively recruit on campus.
