Historic Main Street in St. Charles, MO

The ten-block, 200-year-old Historic Main Street is Missouri's first and largest historic district. It lies closest to the Missouri River and Saint Charles' frontier history. Dress up your home with framed art, antiques, old and reproduction signs, Victorian accessories, lamps, collectible figures and plates, stained glass, quilts, pottery, floral arrangements and decorating accents from every period. Or dress up yourself with textile/craft specialty shops, classic silks and custom or costume jewelry.

Saint Charles is rich in history, brimming with American frontier adventure and proud of its French and German cultural heritage.

The French and German influence can still be seen in the architecture and tasted in gourmet restaurants. In fact, history comes alive here every day as costumed shop owners greet visitors, and annual festivals attract thousands.

If your appetite can think it, chances are you will enjoy it at one of our many one-of-a-kind restaurants. From French and German heritage to Italian and American classics, you’ll find French fare to exquisite pastas paired with a perfect merlot. You can blaze your own trail with some red hot dishes, or cool down with an old fashion ice cream cone. We have everything from steak houses and courtyard cafés to sports bars and, of course, home-style cooking.

St. Charles and its surrounding areas have some of the finest wineries in the midwest. Tours, samples and consumer sales are available at these old world style wineries. Many of these wines are available at many of our area dining establishments as well.
