It displays a number of warbirds, but its greatest source of pride is a restored B-17 known as "Sentimental Journey." Other exhibitions document life both on the front lines and at home in the States. A large number of planes have been restored and are flyable.

MESA. Completed in the spring of 2005, the Mesa Arts Center is the largest in the state at 212,755 square feet. The campus has four theaters, the Mesa Contemporary Arts galleries, and numerous studios, workshops, offices and classrooms. The center hosts visiting performing arts companies such as the Metropolitan Youth Symphony and the Sonoran Desert Chorale, and schedules performances of every conceivable variety in every price range, from high school drama club shows to professional symphony orchestras. Mesa Contemporary Arts is an art museum and gallery that supports and promotes contemporary artists such as Sandow Birk with regularly changing exhibits.

From recreations of prehistoric Indian dwellings, to displays outlining the area's settlement by 19th century white men, this place constantly draws your attention. You can gaze in awe at life-sized dinosaurs, pan for gold and search for secret treasure, or explore a Spanish mission and examine authentic pottery, all without leaving the newly-expanded premises. Changing exhibits add to the mix, and a geological section displays minerals as well as meteorites. Check out the gift shop if you're on the lookout for local literature or unusual souvenirs.

MESA. Once a school house, this circa-1913 structure shelters a museum created by the people of Mesa. Dedicated to preserving artifacts from (and the history of) the town's original settlement, the museum displays objects from early pioneer families, including furniture, photographs, and agricultural implements. Different rooms detail specific aspects of the area and provide an authentic picture of what the homesteading period was like. Murals also illustrate these early days.
