HUNTSVILLE. This botanical garden is an active member of the Huntsville community. Gardening workshops, vegetable growing, and compost demonstrations and educational programs with local schools help residents learn about the region's flora. The 110-acre garden is open year-round, though the butterfly house, featuring 50 native species, is only open from Memorial Day through Labor Day. "Constitution Walk" is a path bordered by red maples surrounding a serene pond. It is in honor of our nation's founders. The Central Corridor garden is five acres and boasts beds of lilies, perennial gardens, brightly colored annuals, and a water garden. An herb garden, a rose garden, and a fern garden are other beautiful areas of the property. This garden hosts over 200,000 visitors annually. Shuttle buses are available for visitors with limited mobility. A tearoom provides lunches and light refreshments.
