About Pleasant Prairie
Pleasant Prairie is both a lovely village and a quaint suburb of southeast Milwaukee. Located along the shore of Lake Michigan, it's centrally located between Chicago and Milwaukee. Travelers with a penchant for sweets flock to Pleasant Prairie each year to tour the Jelly Belly jellybean warehouse facility. History buffs, then, take in regional information at the History Center and separate Public Museum in neighboring Kenosha. Athletics are a popular pastime in the village, and Pleasant Prairie's annual triathlons draw scores of athletes from across the Midwest. To train for them, visitors and residents utilize the LakeView RecPlex at Pleasant Springs Park. This facility is home to an aquatic center, indoor water park, fitness center, 1/6-mile indoor track, and spacious field house with basketball and volleyball courts. Shoppers also enjoy bargain hunting at local outlet centers, which feature dozens of designer shops and an array of items at discount prices.
Did you know?
Although Kenosha residents enjoy the new streetcar circuit (whose two-mile route links notable districts and sites), these five cars aren't the town's first. It was back in 1903 that Kenosha first premiered electric streetcars. In the 1930s, however, they were replaced by trolleybuses, not to reappear until 2000, when efforts spearheaded by then-Transportation Director Joseph McCarthy came to fruition.
