Pleasant Prairie is both a lovely village and a quaint suburb of southeast Milwaukee. Located along the shore of Lake Michigan, it's centrally located between Chicago and Milwaukee. Travelers with a penchant for sweets flock to Pleasant Prairie each year to tour the Jelly Belly jellybean warehouse facility. History buffs, then, take in regional information at the History Center and separate Public Museum in neighboring Kenosha. Athletics are a popular pastime in the village, and Pleasant Prairie's annual triathlons draw scores of athletes from across the Midwest. To train for them, visitors and residents utilize the LakeView RecPlex at Pleasant Springs Park. This facility is home to an aquatic center, indoor water park, fitness center, 1/6-mile indoor track, and spacious field house with basketball and volleyball courts. Shoppers also enjoy bargain hunting at local outlet centers, which feature dozens of designer shops and an array of items at discount prices.

When Chrysler pulled its manufacturing from Kenosha, the town's prospects looked bleak until community leaders opted to make a silk purse from a sow's ear. Scores of industrial buildings along the lake were razed, and the site was opened to significant redevelopment. The resultant Harborpark now takes advantage of the 69-acre site and its waterfront, thanks to a wealth of residential, business, and recreational attractions. In fact, the once abandoned site has been transformed into a true city showpiece.
