The city of Sycamore derives its name from the numerous Sycamore trees located on the north bank of the Kishwaukee River. That original site was abandoned, and the city of Sycamore now resides on higher ground. Industry, agriculture and a variety of local merchants keep Sycamore and its residents happy and healthy. Country Inn & Suites, Sycamore warmly welcomes you, let us know how we can make your stay enjoyable.

Sycamore offers visitors the best of both worlds. Located in DeKalb County and considered part of Chicago's metro area, this quaint community population approximately 12,100 has plenty to offer. Visitors can enjoy fishing, hiking, and camping during the summer, and in the winter months Sycamore is ideal for ice fishing, cross-country skiing, and snowmobiling. Average temperatures top out at 73 degrees in the summer months and 21 degrees in the winter, with a snowfall of about 30 inches. The city, which happens to be the county seat, is also conveniently located to the 1500-acre Shabbona Lake State Park, which has a 32-acre. Another nearby recreational spot that attracts visitors is the Kishwaukee River.

Hundreds of illuminated jack-o-lanterns light the streets and corners of Sycamore each fall. This pleasant northwestern Illinois town has garnered the title of the pumpkin capital of the world because of its panache for decorating the bright orange gourds. The month of October in Sycamore is marked with a parade and old-fashioned community fun during the city's annual Pumpkin Festival.
