The "Song and Soul of the South" is in the heart of Georgia along the state's Antebellum Trail. A gracious Southern heritage prevails throughout Macon that both visitors and residents find captivating. Rich with history and architecture, the city has neighborhoods of classic Greek Revival and Victorian style homes. Surpassing Washington, D.C. and even cities in Japan, the city is awash in cherry blossoms in the Spring when the 224,000 Yoshino cherry trees come into bloom. An exciting musical heritage has brought forth many famous artists such as Otis Redding, The Allman Brothers and Little Richard, the town's official "Goodwill Ambassador" phone the Convention and Visitors Bureau and "the Architect of Rock and Roll" himself is the voice you hear directing your call. Fine restaurants, lively nightlife, year-round festivals, museums, arts and entertainment venues, sight-seeing and tours add to the never-ending choices of attractions the city has to offer. From healthcare to aerospace, modern-day Macon is home to sophisticated international industries and manufacturers that have helped grow the area into a center of diverse cultural, civic and educational opportunities while at the same time maintaining a friendly hometown feel.

More than 50 sites in Macon are listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The most recognized is a home known as the Hay House, one of the finest antebellum mansions to weather the Civil War. This Italian Renaissance Revival Style home took 4 years to build and covers 18,000 square feet. Built somewhere around 1855, this house was considered way before its time complete with indoor bathrooms, hot and cold running water, heating and ventilation system, room to room intercom and elevator.
