DOWNTOWN HARRISBURG. Located on South Front Street, the John Harris/Simon Cameron Mansion was built in the late 18th century to serve as the home of Harrisburg's founder, John Harris. The house tour includes a local history museum, the family library, and an archives room. In 1863, Lincoln's Secretary of War, Simon Cameron, purchased the mansion and enlarged it to its present state. The home is on the National List of Historic Places. Tours begin at the adjacent offices of the Dauphin County Historical Society. Schedule your tour at least a week in advance.

DOWNTOWN HARRISBURG. Among the diverse state capitols in the United States, this European-style Harrisburg landmark stands apart. The exterior of the building is decorated with various murals, columns, and statues. The Capitol dome, the grand staircase in the Capitol Rotunda, and a depiction of Mercy and Justice are of particular interest. The ornate House of Representatives Chamber is also awe-inspiring. Tours are offered throughout the day during the week, but it's best to reserve in advance.

AIRPORT - ZUP. Fort Hunter encompasses a forty-acre park and plantation home first settled in the early 1700s. The park, which is set upon the banks of the Susquehanna River, has several picnic areas, as well as the Centennial Barn, which can accommodate up to 150 people. There are several walking paths, as well as access to the Pennsylvania Canal Trail. The plantation gives visitors a glimpse into what sophisticated country living was during this period in time. Additional buildings ­ an icehouse, tavern, springhouse, and blacksmith shop ­ are located throughout the park.
