DE PERE. This beautiful English-style pub opened its doors during the first Reagan administration and is a favorite haunt of De Pere's longtime residents. The place's red brick walls, stained wood bar and railings, and tile floors hearken back to the heyday of the neighborhood pub. Rumor has it that Packers players used to frequent the pub back when the team held its pre-season camp at nearby St. Norbert College ­ no doubt attracted by the pub's low-key atmosphere and friendly patronage. Not just a place to toss back a few, Nicky's also features tasty pub fare, from olive pesto pizzas to fancy burgers served in Burgundy wine sauce. An interesting trivia fact ­ the lion's head above the Main Street entrance was crafted by a local artist.
