In preparing to visit our daughter and her fiance in Cleveland for another wedding gown fitting, we learned that both The Who and the Indians were in town that night. Every downtown hotel wanted approximately $8 million for a room, so we decided to stay in Elyria. My husband discovered the Country Inns & Suites for a very reasonable rate and we’re both happy he did. While the building is older, it’s clearly been upgraded. The rooms are spacious and immaculately clean, with enough outlets for our electronics, and high-end amenities (they even have make-up remover cloths). The bed was comfortable, the AC worked well and the WiFi was free. The sitting area, separated by a door from the bedroom, sported a couch, armchair, desk, fridge, coffeemaker and microwave. And how could I forget the flatscreen TVs in both the sitting room and bedroom? They offer freshly baked cookies and coffee around the clock and a very serviceable free breakfast. Although we didn’t use these facilities, there is a large, indoor pool, and business and fitness centers. With easy-on-easy-off access to the Ohio Turnpike and I-90, Country Inns also provides plentiful free parking. There is a large mall across the street (Macy’s, Sears, JC Penney) with plenty of the usual restaurants (Applebee’s, Denny’s, etc.). And last but not least, the water pressure in the shower was great and there’s a liquor store within easy walking distance. The view isn’t great but the friendly staff makes up for it. We enjoyed this place so much that we might forego downtown hotels in the future and stay in Elyria. Way to go, Country Inns & Suites!
