Check out the following things to do when you visit New York City:

Empire State Building
The legendary building soaring more than 100 stories over Manhattan's skyline and made famous by the movie King Kong, the Empire State Building was the world's tallest building for 40 years. Its gorgeous Art Deco details and beautiful marble lobby make it the perfect stop for visitors. The building captures the very essence of New York: huge, full of people and breathtaking. Now in its 75th year, it remaining as spectacular and enchanting as ever.

Statue of Liberty
Few brief ferry trips can be more exciting; departing from Battery Park at the southern tip of Manhattan, both the spectacular New York skyline and the magnificent Statue of Liberty loom large in the distance. A potent symbol of freedom and democracy, the Statue was a gift from the French people to the people of the United States and was dedicated in 1886. After a short walk around the base of the Statue, head to the Statue of Liberty Museum located inside the pedestal. An elevator goes as high up as the top of the pedestal inside the Statue, and before 9/11 visitors could climb the seemingly endless 354 steps - approximately 22 stories - to the Statue's crown. The walk up was definitely for the intrepid or strong-willed, especially in the hot summer months.

Central Park
New York's "flagship" park of 843 acres, 26,000 trees and almost 9,000 benches has had a rather checkered history. Planning began around 1868 when city commissioners chose the "Greensward Plan" developed by Frederick Law Olmsted and Calvert Vaux.

World Trade Center - Ground Zero
Since the destruction of the Twin Towers, many people from points across the globe have made the trek to lower Manhattan to offer their respects to those killed in the worst terrorist incident in American history as well as to see the ongoing reconstruction.

Rockefeller Plaza
John D. Rockefeller, Jr. first opened the 70th floor Observation Deck atop 30 Rockefeller Plaza more than 70 years ago to give something back to New Yorkers and their guests from around the world - a place to appreciate and celebrate the city.

Metropolitan Museum of Art (MET)
The Metropolitan Museum is extraordinary in scope and size, and a visitor to this world-famous museum should plan on staying the entire day. In formation since 1870, the Metropolitan Museum's collection now contains more than three million works of art from all points of the compass, ancient through modern times.
