The fourth largest university in Arkansas, this state-run institution is known for its programs in education, occupational therapy, and physical therapy. UCA serves more than 13,000 students and offers about 80 majors in six distinct colleges. The school’s mascot, the Bears, was chosen partly due to Arkansas’ nickname, “The Bear State,” and the school colors, gray and purple, were chosen by two students in 1908 based on the clothing they happened to be wearing at the time.

  • Central Baptist College

Central Baptist College offers an impressive array of majors and minors for its small size, and was ranked as one of the fastest growing schools in Arkansas in 2007. The school is home to the Mustangs athletic programs and participates in the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA).

  • Hendrix College
Founded in 1876, this four-year, private, residential, coeducational liberal arts college is affiliated with the United Methodist Church. Hendrix boasts an outstanding student/faculty ratio of 2:1 and an average class size of 18 students. Students can choose from any of 33 undergraduate majors and one Master's program in accounting.
