My wife, who is disabled, and I were going to be returning home to Georgia after visiting relatives in Maryland. She is having a hip replacement in three weeks and is extremely uncomfortable riding in our van (even though I made up a bed for her in the back). I was looking for a place to stay to break the trip into shorter segments for her comfort. I shopped online (I think it was on Expedia.com) and found the hotel. It sounded nice and had a reasonable room rate. Rather than booking through Expedia, I called the hotel directly and spoke to Andy. He told me a little more about the hotel and got me an even better rate, so I booked the room. When we arrived at the hotel three weeks later (at the end of our two-week trip), I was tired and merely hoping for a comfortable place to stay. I was pleasantly surprised. The hotel was very easy to get to from the interstate. The hotel and grounds were neat and clean and looked very inviting. The front desk staff (Britney and Dustie) was extremely pleasant and very helpful. Check-in took about three minutes. Going to the room I was impressed that the hallways/elevator/etc. did not have the old, musty smell you find in many hotels. Everything was clean, bright and smelled fresh. The maids we encountered in the hallway were cheerful and enthusiastic about welcoming us. The room and bathroom were very clean, well kept, and smelled fresh. The king bed was terrific - extremely comfortable! The easy chair and ottoman were equally comfortable. I was thrilled to find the extra large shower! My wife's physical problems make it almost impossible for her to bathe herself, and the large shower made it easy for me to help her out. The room was quiet - no traffic noise at all. We slept very well. The next morning I went to breakfast during the last 30 minutes of the 6:00-9:30 breakfast hours. There was still a nice selection of hot items - omelets, sausage, oatmeal, etc. The items were not dried out and stale - obviously someone had taken care to restock and put out fresh items periodically. After a good breakfast, the 12:00 checkout time allowed us to go back to bed for a short nap! The checkout process was as easy and fast as check-in. The staff was still cheerful and treated us like they didn't want to see us go. Well done to Andy, Britney, Dustie, Assistant GM Ashley Kepley, and the housekeeping staff!!! They run a tight ship and made us feel very welcome and comfortable. In 63 years of travelling around the world, I have NEVER had as good an experience as I had at the Country Inn & Suites, Concord, North Carolina. I look forward to being able to stay there again, and will go out of my way to schedule future trips to allow it.
