    We have stayed at this property several times. The location is convenient. There is a Cracker Barrel and a Mexican restaurant within easy walking distance. There is a gas station and convenience store nearby. The hotel is clean and quiet. The staff are friendly, courteous and helpful. We awakened refreshed refreshed and ready to continue our trip. My only complaint would be with the danish. They are dry and flavorless. The danish at this property are the identical danish that we have at the Chicago property so they must be purchased centrally. I would like to find a way to load the mattress into my car so that I could take it home. I had the best night's sleep that I have had in years.

    We got a romantic getaway suite with wine, chocolate, and a box of bath supplies. The wine was a local Iowan wine and tasted great! The chocolate was a LARGE bar of Ghirardelli. And the box of bath supplies was generous, from the Body Shop, and had a Shea Butter theme. It was amazing. The in-suite jacuzzi bathtub was large enough for two big people to fully soak in and have a glass of wine. The breakfast was good and I had a great time. We spent our days in Des Moines and it was 15 minutes from this hotel to downtown (and way better than a downtown hotel on both price and space--plus we didn't have to pay for parking!) Would definitely stay there again on our next trip to the Des Moines area.

    I thought a Carlson hotel would be a class act but the beds were awful, internet spotty, breakfast not what I expected. Needs updating, furniture was not clean and was chipped. I'll not stay here again.

    Dear Sharonminn, I am very sorry to hear that your stay with us was disappointing. At Country Inn & Suites Des Moines West we strive to exceed all of our guests expectatoins and when we fall short of that it is a very big concern to us. I will have our internet looked into so that we can trouble shoot any areas that we are not getting coverage. In regards to our breakfast we are currently working on making changes to our menus and our planning of offering to offer a wider variety to our guests and make sure that we are not repeating the same thing every day. I have also spoken with our housekeeping staff to ensure that we are taking care of any cleanliness issues in the room furniture to ensure we are offering a clean hotel to every guest that stays with us. Thank you again for taking the time to tell us about your experience, without feedback from our guests it is difficult for us to improve our operation. I hope that next time you are in the Des Moines area you will stop by and find that we have corrected these difficiencies.
