One of the city's oldest and longest-running festivals, Seafair began in 1950 as a tribute to Seattle's 100th anniversary. The schedule includes festivals and events throughout the Puget Sound area, over the course of about five weeks. Favorites include the Milk Carton Derby (a boat race with vessels crafted from milk cartons), an air show featuring the US Navy's Blue Angels, a parade, bike race, triathlon and hydroplane races. In addition, you can see the festival's signature clowns, catch the crowning of Miss Seafair, and watch or take part in a host of other events too numerous to mention.

The producers say this festival has something for everyone, and it's true. It draws about 50,000 people. Music, dance, theater and comedy performances are non-stop on three stages, plus there are street performers doing magic tricks, making balloon animals, juggling or miming, so you'll never have a dull moment. About 400 booths house artists, crafters and other vendors, and there's a great variety of wacky activities and entertainment just for kids. An array of fantastic international food ensures that no one goes hungry for long.
