MANCHESTER. Modeled after New York City's famed theater of the same name, the historic Palace dates from 1915, when it opened with much local aplomb. Indeed, the Palace was something to behold, thanks to its classic marquee and suave interior. Among the headliners who thrilled Manchester audiences in those day were legends like Bob Hope, Harry Houdini, the Marx Brothers, and Red Skelton. Later, the Palace served as a movie house before falling into disuse in the '60s. In 1974, concerned citizens joined forces and helped renovate the theater. To this day, the Palace sits at the center of Manchester's cultural scene.
